Amazing Grace...How Sweet the Sound

Mark Grace was a teammate in every sense of the word. He spent eleven years with the Chicago Cubs as a dependable first baseman.

Grace's line-drive power to all parts of the field has enabled him to keep his batting average and run production above average. The first baseman tallied more hits and more doubles than other ballplayer from 1990 to 1999.
Too bad the Cubs were only able to reward Grace with one trip the post season during his stay on the North Side.

Attention Sports Fans:

Hey guys, just wanted to extend everyone an invite to my house (923 e. Jefferson) this Saturday for an awesome day of tailgating, lawn games, and football watching. There’ll be games on multiple large-screen TVs starting at 11am and leading up to the big primetime match-up (No, not PSU/OSU, Notre Dame v. Washington!). I have a pretty big yard so all day we’ll have games going on (Bags, Australian Frisbee, Pong/Flip Cup, etc), and we’ll also grill plenty of meat. Feel free to bring friends/girlfriend/boyfriends/dogs (the yard is fenced in and my dog could use company). I’ll probably get a keg from John’s of something decent, let me know if anyone has any particular requests. Hope you guys can all make it!

P.S. Dave you don't have a blog I can post this on, but you're expected to make an appearance as well.

Probably my 2nd favorite Cub to watch while I grew up behind Ryno. Probably one of the more underrated players of his era. His defense was outstanding as he saved many errors for the strong-armed shortstop Shawon Dunston.

I always thought Gracie would be a great color commentator for the Cubs someday, but after watching him on FOX Saturday baseball I'm not so sure about that! Hopefully he'll improve with that aspect of his career because he's a great guy.

When I think Mark Grace, the first thing that always come to mind for me is how he never wore batting gloves. I don't know why that is but it is the one thing that sticks in my brain about him.

I agree with you though he has to be one of the top Cubs of our time at least. Played hard every play and was the ultimate team player.
